چکیده

Twenty seven trace elements (Li, Mg, Al, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Mo, Ag, Cd, In, Sn, Sb, Cs, Ba, Tl, Hg, Pb, Bi) and stable isotope ratios (δ13C and δ15N) were measured in deep sea organisms from OffSanninn and Off-Hokuriku, Japan to evaluate the trophic transfer of these elements. Concentrations of Al, Fe, In, Sb and Ba were positively correlated with δ15N values suggesting that these elements were plausibly bioaccumulated through food web in the Off-Sanninn region. On the other hand, negative correlation between trace element concentrations and δ15N values was not observed in the present study. This is an opposite trend compared with the previous studies in which many trace elements showed negative correlation with δ15N values in Sagami Bay and Tohoku Bay. When only crustacean species were considered, concentrations of Al, V, Fe, Co, Mo, Ag, Sb and Pb were positively correlated with δ15N values. This result suggests positively correlated with δ15N values. This result suggests that these heavy metals are bioaccumulated through food web in crustacean species in both Off-Sanninn and Off-Hokuriku. Our results suggest possible ecotoxicological risk by these heavy metals with their increasing discharge to the marine environment.

Distribution O F Heavy Metals in Antarctic Marine Ecosystem

Heavy metal concentrations in Antarctic surface seawaters and some marine organisms were determined, and their distributions and bioaccumulations were discussed in comparison with other marine ecosystems. Locational difference of the heavy metal concentrations in Antarctic seawater was negligible, and their concentrations were in the order of Zn Fe> Mn> Cu>Pb Ni> Cd> Hg. When compared to the we...

Modeling (137)Cs bioaccumulation in the salmon-resident killer whale food web of the Northeastern Pacific following the Fukushima Nuclear Accident.

To track the long term bioaccumulation of (137)Cs in marine organisms off the Pacific Northwest coast of Canada, we developed a time dependent bioaccumulation model for (137)Cs in a marine mammalian food web that included fish-eating resident killer whales. The model outcomes show that (137)Cs can be expected to gradually bioaccumulate in the food web over time as demonstrated by the increase o...

Fukushima 137Cs at the base of planktonic food webs off Japan

The potential bioaccumulation of Cs in marine food webs off Japan became a concern following the release of radioactive contaminants from the damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant into the coastal ocean. Previous studies suggest that Cs activities increase with trophic level in pelagic food webs, however, the bioaccumulation of Cs from seawater to primary producers, to zooplankton has not been ...

Bioaccumulation of metals in silver carp and stone moroko from Zarivar Wetland in Kurdistan Province, Iran

This research aims to monitor the trace elements content (Cr, Cu, Pb, Cd, Ag, Al, Mn, Mg, Zn and Fe) in the tissues of the muscle and liver of silver carp (H. molitrix ) and stone moroko (P. parva) from Zarivar Wetland in western Iran. This research was cross-sectional. The research specimen was fish caught from Zarivar Wetland. Metal concentration analysis was carried out utilizing an ICP. Fin...

Trace Metals and Major Elements in Sediments of the Northern Persian Gulf

The concentrations of sixteen elements and organic carbon were determined in 78 marine sediment samples collected from the Iranian coastal waters of the Persian Gulf. Nine transects perpendicular to the coastline were sampled. Sixteen elements, including As, Ba, Cd, Co, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn (trace metals) and Ca, Fe, Mg, Na, P, S, Si (major metals), were determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma M...
